Are "Sperry's" a fashion or just boat shoes? I asked another question and the answer resulted in that sperry's aren't a fashion,they are just boat shoes. I highly disagree.I definitely think that sperry's are a fashion. What is your opinion?Are they fashionable or just simple ugly boat shoes?

Redhead replied: "If you are referring to Sperry Topsiders, yes, they are meant to be worn on boat decks as they are non slip and will not mar the decks on boats/ships. However, since they can also be worn every day on land, we sailors think they are "in style" at any time of the day or year. We do not change into landlubber shoes when on shore. Many lines of everyday shoes have copied this shoe so yes, it must be "fashion" too. If you are a sincere boater, however, you may not want to wear the same shoes on your boat as on shore as stones, etc., can get caught in them and ruin the decks."

Blue Boat Shoes, White Laces? Well I want some boat shoes for fashion not actual boating. Psychology behind what shoes/clothing one wears? I am interested in getting both a psychological point of view and a fashion point of view on this. Also, if I could get some female AND male input, that would be great. I was thinking: Why is it that people feel comfortable with certain looks and not with others? For instance, if someone wore running sneakers to school every single day, and then you asked them to wear leather boat shoes, they might feel uncomfortable. Similarly, if someone always wore a dark polo shirt to school, they may feel uncomfortable wearing a plain white t shirt.

T Time R replied: "well... this is from my point of view and knowledge just from attending high school, is that people like to feel more comfortable when they have a certain style and group they belong to.. like i'm more of a cali hollister girl or just comfy stuff... i would never where like applebottom or overalls or something.. haha! but when they ARE asked to wear something risky for they're style they feel unconfortable probably cuz people will tend to judge... {for example... the ghetto kids would look at me and be like why is she wearing that outfit?? when i NEVER wear stuff like that. they'd think i was a poser} people judge a lot, and kids are aware of that... plus when they get used to wearing one thing they don't wanna wear something new, i hate getting new shoes i <3 my old worn out ones for some odd reason... it's just habit. sorry this message was probably really hard to understand o_O and SUPER long... dang i got carried away. haha!"

what do you think is the next big fashion item to have? example: wearing scarfs, boat shoes, etc that is not the big thing ppl are wearing now

These shoes with cargo shorts? Okay, I don't like to wear sandals so I always struggle with summer and shorts. So now I am looking for a pair of shoes that would look okay with basic cargo shorts and such. Would either of these shoes look okay with "not too long cargo" shorts? BTW, I am a 38 year male of medium complexion (i.e., I don't have really white skin). I also understand that I would need to wear really low or almost no show dark (black socks). For now, I have cargo shorts in several basic colors. I understand that they are fashion sneakers and can be worn with pants but I am trying to stay away from young looking sneakers and old looking shoes (like boat shoes). Thanks. >

Hey Ladies, Is my fashion since okay? Im a sixteen year old guy. i go to a relatively rural school, but we have a decent fashion population. I have a relatively original wardrobe, and it is definitely different from what most guys my age wear. i wear a lot of Khaki pants and courduroys. i wear a lot of oxford shirts. if its warm, i might roll up the sleaves or wear a tshirt. in colder weather, i will wear a sweater with the collar of the polo underneath and i might pull up the sweater sleaves. sometimes i wear vests with polo shirts underneath. i wear a lot of boat shoes, like sperrys, penny loafers, and things like that. for jackets, i wear dressy heavy jackets like bomber jackets and banana republic mid-lengths. i often wear scarves (with my jacket only-not with like a t shirt). what do you think?
