Corkscrew curls? My friend is half white half caribean and has the most gorgeous tight corkscrew curls, is there anyway to get that effect with a perm? I had one in the 90's and it was meant to be a spiral perm but I looked like a shaggy dog!
quirkycoquette replied: "well no you would either need to get a perm or get a tiny barrel curling iron and curl your hair."
Harley Kate replied: "I know how to make them with curling iron.... this is gonna be hard to explain , but I'll try..
ok take a small section of hair clasp the iron about 1 " from your head (let rest of hair just hang down out of curling iron)and turn the curling iron.. hold it about 5 or 6 second, then realeas a little hair, but curl it back up to skull again, hold release a little further down , curl it back up to the skull.. meaning like, the first bit of hair will be on the iron the whole time just kinda keep rolling it back up.. uhh wish I coudl just show you , but it works makes perfect corkscrews..."
Blondeheiress replied: "Girls with perms take a huge risk of having fuzzy, fried hair. It's so Vinny looking, and we all know someone with the awful dated look. Buy the old fashion small sponge curlers, roll small sections of your whole head starting at the top crown first then work down on the sides. The hair should be damp not wet. Sleep with them our keep in a good 7 hours. Take out do NOT comb shake your head and use your fingers Gently or a pick. NEVER COMB or BRUSH. It will last days and be very corkscrew"
trollunderthestairs replied: "Aside from a spiral perm, your hair will need to be quite long and you will need to use a lot of hair products for proper maintenence... to keep the curls looking silky and springy as opposed to fluffy and frizzy."
valleygurl replied: "beauty salons now a days have different size curlers for perms, spirals, or waves. I would suggest going to one or more salons and asking their advice and letting them know your concerns. If you don't want to make a 3 to 6 month commitment, try putting curlers in yourself. You can buy certain sizes at the store and put in your hair when wet or dry. Hair style magazines are also packed with info..."

What are some pretty updos for mid-back length natural corkscrew curls? My prom is next week and my hairstylist canceled out on me for a family issue. My mom is willing to do my hair but needs some examples to follow by. The problem is that most of the pictures Ive seen are only girls with wispy curls or unnatural curls. Does anyone have any pics? Click the link to see an okay picture of me and my hair

girlnextdoor x04 replied: "Leave it down! Pump up the curls!

GreatAdvice replied: "Try this. It is what I followed and these are the pictures that I gave my hair dresser when I had my homecoming formal.

Try it out, and if your mom can't do it, just try straightening your hair or find another hairdresser that could do your hair."
How can I get corkscrew curls in my thin hair? Please help I have a dance tonight!
PLEASE HELP! I need an answer by tonight.
Jewel replied: "rough dry your hair until almost dry......section off small segments of hair and wind it round perm curlers from end to root...spray with hairspray and dry again with hairdryer allow to cool down before removing curlers spray with hairspray........ this works i used to be a hairdresser in the west end of london uk and use this technique on my own hair .......would have been best to practice first so you get used to doing it........style with fingers not brush or comb .....have fun !"
how to get corkscrew curls with a curling iron? i have really layered hair and its about shoulder length..anybody got any tipss.
Caitie replied: "sounds stupid, but using a straightener works like a charm!
a thin one will work best, and keep your curls the most defined.
get small portions of hair, and starting from the root, as you move down, [straightening your hair] twist the straightener in the direction you want your curls.
if it won't hold, spray it with hairspray immediately before you curl.
quick and effective!"
jesssssssssssssssssss,,oxo ツ replied: "i use these things called bendy rollers
they look like candy canes, but they work really well!
you burn one around your hair, then u carry on until the whole head is covered, and to get the best results, either sleep with them in or keep them in for ages :)
good luck! x"
susan V replied: "Use a spiral curling iron. It's made for these type of curls!

How to do corkscrew curls like this? I really wanna do this to my friends hair. It is medium length and layered and kinda thin. I know thats a hard combination, but she really wants it.
ayesha replied: "a really good curling or high temp good conditioner shampoo and a good stable mousse or hairsparay and a lot of patience do one strand of hair a time it look more professial and the effect of style will come out better this will take maybe 2-3 or hours"
amanda. (RIP MJ) replied: "My hair is like that naturally. Try using a curling iron. I've seen it happen with a curling iron."
Wanda replied: "try washing and condutioning your hair but while it is wet put in lots of waterfall rollers but instead of having them go left to right try up and down"
How can i fix my hair? I used to have long corkscrew curls, but i dyed and straightened my hair too much.? My hair is now dead it wont curl its very frizzy, and short/broken, and I cant do anything with it.... help me!!! i ruined my beautiful hair :(
Aundrea Rosalie<3 replied: "I have curls too and I straighten and dye my hair all the time too. What you should do is get a cut to remove all the split and dead ends. At the salon you can ask your hair dresser to deep condition it to get some moisture back into it. And stop straightening your hair for a while (I know that will be hard lol) but if you condition good and let your natural color grow back im sure you'll have your beautiful curls and healthy hair back :]"
OK should i straighten my hair it is naturally corkscrew curls? i have naturally curly hair i luv the look of it straightened with a flat iron but i luv my curls as well curious if anyone know will it damage my hair 2 straighten it chemically and will my hair go back 2 normal or will i lose some of my curl
Jess replied: "You should let your hair be natural. That's always the prettiest look and your hair will look healthy. It's okay to straighten your hair occasionally but not every day. Real damage will be done if you flat iron too much. And yes, chemically straightening hair does a LOT of damage. You have no idea how many people I've talked to that have had their hair chemically straightened and now regret it because their curls are a frizzy, dry mess. If you want to go straight then flat iron occasionally, but your curls are very pretty I'm sure so stick with them!"
lowrie :D xxxxx replied: "best juss straighten irt with good straighteners like ghds then wash it when u want it back to normal x"
ells bells replied: "Hiya
Why not give it a go to see what it's like? Apply a heat protector on it to stop your hair being damaged.
Once straightened why not try curling your hair with the Straighteners? My friend does this and it always looks great! It'll be a softer curl than you're used to.
Hope this helps!

Emily replied: "im in the same position as you with my curls they go all frizzy...what can we do about that?"
B replied: "i have curly hair too. i wear it down a lot. i like playing w/dyes in it. loreal has some awesome colors out, fuschia, orange, a really intense red, you should try them out. i like putting my hair in a clip and having the curls looking all crazy and sloppy."
