Using cloth diapers- still leaking at night. What else can I do? Which are the best to use at night? I have tried the jam tots plush diaper, but it leaked within a few hours. Last night we used fuzzi bunz. It worked much better, with a hemp insert plus an extra insert on top, but somehow it seemed to leak out the side. Is there a certain diaper that is better to use at night? Or do cloth diapers tend to leak at night? We don't have any problems during the day. My son lays on his side at night, which I think contributes to the leaking. Thanks.

C N replied: "change every hour or two."

juanitaallday replied: "buy some rubber pants and put on him at nite, my two children slept in them when they were small."

lovebug123 replied: "I think you're supposed to put those plastic underwear on over the cloth diaper."

kaykella2 replied: "This is funny for me, and brings back memories of when my boy used to be younger and would wake up SOAKED! Here is what I found out worked best for me. WE dont use cloth diapers, although I really would have loved to try, but it just didnt work out, due to how expensive the shipping is in my area... I live in Hawaii! I notived with my son, he starts to leak whenever the diaper is too full, A. And the diaper is too small, B. You might want to try to get some of those plastic lined pants... They are made my GERBER. You can put them over the cloth diaper. THIS is the MAIN reason why they "leak" out the side... MY pediatrician and mother explained this to me. With BOYS, when they're sleeping, they ussually get a little "Woody". (Erection) And they dont even realize whats going on, but when the "ding" is making potty in the diaper, it kind of shoots out the top. And that causes them to get their clothes wet, and not when they're awake, in the day their diapers dont have that problem. But, at night when they're flat, they do! I just would shut the diaper tighter. When you are taking the sides of the cloth diaper make sure you make them TIGHT around the tummy. That way, when they cloth raises up a little from the wetness, it still stays tight. OR, you could try to switch to disposable diapers. I actually have tried EVERY diaper KNOWN to man! The BEST ones are made from Kirkland, at Costco. THEY are the MOST absorbant and BEST for boys, in my opinion. MY cousin has 4 boys, they ALL wore the costco diapers too! And I have tried EVERY brand! But, the COSTCO is the BEST! Good luck! K"

mandyhornbeck1981 replied: "I've found great luck with my 18-month-old by double stuffing a pocket dipe with 2 Joeybunz Premiums hemp/cotton fleece inserts. This kid can completely soak a Pampers, but *usually* wakes up nice and dry with the Joeybunz. Try using two of ANY hemp insert, since they're more absorbent and seem to hold the pee better without it getting wrung out between chubby thighs. Oh, and I use GADs fleece pockets at night, if you were wondering."

mrskibchan replied: "I have 3 kids. I started using cloth diaper, fuzzy bunz and bum genius, on my 3rd baby and love it. The only thing I don't like about is side leaking, just like your boy's. I think the reason is just too much pee. During the day you change more often but at night you dont, so it leaks. So I decided to use disposal diaper at night (and when we go out for long time) and it hardly ever leaks. I cannot remember which site, but on the website it says better to use extra insert at night for more protection, but it will be so bulky..!"

C J replied: "You definately want to invest in Tiny Tush Elite! They are by far the best cloth diapers! (i used every kind out there until i found these). The Tiny Tush Elites are adjustable so that they have the best fit and grow with your child from birth to 35 pounds! also, they have a water proof shell that is still breathable and does not leak. I used this for both of my children and never had a leak and only once had an insidence of diaper rash ( i had switched wiper solution) Oh and these were so easy that even my husband could use them."

shalomd replied: "We used a fuzzi bunz or gad with two hemp inserts inside it. Also, we found that a hemp prefold like thirsties worked very well with a wool cover over it kept our super soaker little boy dry at night. Another option would be to use a fitted such as those sold at called "made by me" they are made by the owner of the site and are really absorbant. You would use a cover over thse such as a wool cover or a Bummis or Bumkins or Thirsties cover. Also, I know this sounds silly but we would change our son into his night time diaper the VERY last thing at night. Just having the diaper hold "one less pee" seemed to help! Congrats on cloth diapering!"

Is there anything I can do about my six month old son's diaper leaking at night? This just started about a week ago. It never leaks during the day. Should I change brands (we use Huggies stage 3)? Is there a special "night-time" diaper I can buy that will get him through the night? It's leaking out the top of the back of the diaper. The diapers seem to fit him, but should I go up a size? Anyone else have a problem like this?

navyprincess1227 replied: "Usually when the diapers leak its time to move up a size. We use Huggies during the day and the Target brand at night and have never had any leaking issues with our daughter. Good luck!"

cowgrl3611 replied: "try the huggies good nights, there thicker and made for bed time and can hold more with out leaking"

JCaton replied: "I use pampers cruisers and they work fine throughout the day and night. They can withstand a huge about of liquid without leaking. I know my son use to have the heaviest diaper at that age when he woke up in the morning and it never leaked out."

tonikat replied: "Never had this problem with name brand diapers. Are you buying seconds ? Are you putting them on right ? read the instructions for tips. Try another brand, or "girls" diapers and see if it is better."

mellychelly replied: "I used pampers with my twins, never had leaks. Maybe he has started having more liquid intake around bedtime? I`d try switching."

Mandi G replied: "If the size 3 works during the day and he doesn't leek you can keep him in that size or move up to 4's. When my children were in diapers we just used the next size up at night and it worked great."

redpeach_mi replied: "we had that same problem with my son. he sleeps about 14 hours at night and his diaper was always leaking. we put him in a diaper that is a size bigger at night and stopped having leaks."

Christal replied: "When my son was less than a year, we always knew it was time to go up a size because his diapers would suddenly start leaking. Of course, they would also leak if we put a diaper on him that was too big, so sometimes when he was 'between sizes' we just had to deal with leakage for a few weeks. However, I would say that if your son's diapers were doing great and suddenly started leaking, you should try going up a size. It is also possible that he just urinates more at night, so be sure to do a diaper change if you have a middle of the night feeding. I don't think I would wake him to change it, though--I have a firm policy to let a sleeping baby sleep unless there is an emergency! :P We used Huggies as well, and I swear by them! My SIL insisted they wouldn't hold up to her son's explosive poops, but they had a lot of trouble with other brands as well (he had a milk allergy and had REALLY explosive poops :-P) . We did try Huggies supremes at night for a while, but I honestly didn't see that much of a difference. One thing we tried was putting our son to sleep on a towel with a waterproof pad beneath it. That way, if his diaper DID leak, we could change him, pull off the towel and waterproof pad, and replace them without having to redo the entire bed."

tinkerbell replied: "well not to be rude but you could change your sons nappy durning the night. or use pampers"

Allie D replied: "This is quite normal. I love huggies too and use them all of the time. You might want to use a bigger size just for nite time. This sometimes helps also there is a huggies nite time diaper that you can use. They are a little more expensive but you use them only for nite time so the pack will last you quite a long time. Good day and good luck!"

suzieq_64093 replied: "Do they still sell diaper liners? We used that when my son was young. It was a thin blue sheet that fit inside the diaper. (for boys in front, for girls in back) It absorbed extra liquid. Worked for us. Does the diaper gap in the back and that's why it's leaking? If it is, you might have too big of a diaper on."

qpook replied: "Let me guess, as soon as he started rolling over and sleeping on his belly he leaks all up the front of him. My six month old was doing it every night. The only thing I did was make sure after he had his last bottle at night that I gave him a fresh diaper. Sometimes you do need to go up a size, but I didn't have too. When you put him to bed at night point his wee wee down in the diaper and fold the front top of the diaper inward to catch the urine. Good Luck"

rollingx replied: "Just get your lazy butt up in the middle of the night and change it. A diaper can only hold so much wetness. You don't let a baby sit in his own urine for long periods of time. Would you like to have a diaper on that is full of your own urine. Please be more sympathetic to your own child."

Kristine M replied: "That was always our sign to move up a size. Babies, especially if they sleep all night don't get changed as much, so they are more likely to leak. You can continue to use size 3 during the day since you get more in a pack and change him more often, but I'd start buying size 4 for bedtime, you'll both be much happier."

letthepartybeginnow replied: "We used cloth diapers doing the day so babies butt could air out/breath. We used the cheap wal-mart brand at night. Though all the kids wev'e raised none NEVER leaked. Doing the day I've used these diapers while out shopping etc and NEVER did one leak. The high dollar diaper leaked and had some kind of gel coming out. The high dollar diapers weren't better at anything but falling apart and costing more money. One child couldn't wear any of them or he would get a rash every time. Theres not scents etc added to the cheaper brands. The grocery store brands weren't as good as the wal-mart either. Target and starbucks are both owned by Germany. I wont shop at either place, (beside their prices are higher) When our soldiers asked starbucks for some of their coffee to be shipped to Iraq Germany replied NO they didnt suppport our troops or the war..... to support starbucks, bic lighters, and target now isnt going to come from me. If the diaper fits baby you dont need to go up a size you just get less diapers for your money. Try the wal-mart brand and see if you dont agree."

ღDianaღ replied: "Use huggies overnites!"

myboyjamie replied: "hi i had this problem my sons just over 6 months and he is now on stage 4 huggies and this has helped. you just cant stop this happening at times i wouldnt worry about it to much but i would try uping the size xx"

glenda z replied: "I also have a six month old that I had the same problems with. Every time we used Huggies the diapers would leak, so we switched to Teddy's Choice (Superstore brand) and it never leaks at night."

JDs Mommy replied: "IMO- Pampers are the best diapers for any baby. Huggies leak and I hate them. Luvs are good too but they are gross after a nights rest. Pampers are the best. Also, are you sure he's in the right size? They may be too big for him. I SAY GO TO PAMPERS! You can buy in bulk and really cheap from use KAWIS86076 at check out to get $2 off. Good Luck! *www.happysahm.com*"

gymbo1022 replied: "Always make sure he's pointed down."

ME!! replied: "don't give him a diaper."

ropemancometh replied: "Change him right before you go to bed too. You might even try a size 4."

redwinegirl replied: "Huggies Goodnights are made for bigger kids, 40+lbs. If you use these they will gap and that could result in leaking. Try the Pull-ups Night-time. They have extra absorbency and will fit better as they are made for kids your sons size. The 2T-3T fit perfectly on my little one and I have never had a leak problem. I am on my second child and through trial and error these seem to work the best. go to www:pull-ups.com and you can research for yourself. Sign up for their newsletter and you can get great coupons too. I get $2 off everytime I go in to purchase my diapers. Good Luck!"

bluelemin55 replied: "there are huggies nighttime diapers, but i use white cloud diapers from wal-mart for my son, who is 7 months and used to leak everynight, since switching to white cloud diapers, it rarely happens!!"

snowflake replied: "I had the same problem with my eldest son, and I used huggies and the problem wasn't the nappies. One night when I changed him I checked his "willy" and it was pointing to one side - the side where the leak was, so everytime I put his nappie on I made sure his "willy" was in the middle and pointing down. That ended the problem. With my second son I did the same thing since day 1 and he never had a leak at night. Good-luck and hope this works for you."

zsmom replied: "Try buying a small pack of size 4's and use them at night. If they don't leak, then it's time to move up in size..."

midnite true replied: "I found that it is better to use name brand diapers if you can. Huggies is an excellent diaper brand and they do have diapers for night time."

lil_mrs_bridgett replied: "u should totally use target brand in the day, and huggies at nite! Try going down a size though, i had this problem awhile back"

informative replied: "I had that problem with my daughter. We used a cheaper brand during the day, and a more expensive brand at night. That seemed to help. However, you already use Huggies, which is a good brand. Try using pampers, and make sure that the diaper is snug... and not too lose. Also, make sure to change your son's diaper right before bed time, and if you wake up during the night check to see if his diaper is wet, if so, change it. Goodluck!"

Aliya's Mommy replied: "you could buy different diapers, or maybe even get a bigger size"

kianne s replied: "well do you give him a new diaper when he goes to sleep if you do then try getting the the night time diapers"

ret marine replied: "bigger size and change it more than once at night"

sara97a replied: "oooooooo, yes, change diaper brands. huggies are the worst as far as leakage goes. pampers brand is the best. you could also stop giving him liquids an hour or two before bed. that will help as well."

joann t replied: "I had the same problem with my 2 year old foster son and I doubled the diaper and have not had the problem since."

Herding C replied: "My son was a heavy urinator at night starting at 8 or 9 months (and a big boy). I finally found these things called Diaper Doublers at Publix Supermarkets (FL). One day I went to get some and a lady in front of me bought 3 packs. She cares for a special needs teen that needs adult diapers. She said they are also available at Wal-Mart. Basically, they are like a Kotex, so if you can't find them you could try using a maxi-pad."

julissa replied: "Huggies good night are good. Try a bigger size."

serenitysoul61 replied: "Yes there are nitetime diapers available. They come in a Navy Blue bag and are available in the diaper section of the store. I believe the are made by the same company that makes the Pull-up's. Also less fluids before bedtime or during the night will also help. You're baby is getting old enough to start sleeping through the night without a middle of the night bottle or nursing. As you add solids you will notice a decrease in liquid feedings during the night."

lalacheese replied: "change it right before bed. or try a thicker one just for the night"

mommie replied: "well you should often check his diaper through out the the night"

spiritedfilly11568 replied: "As a professional nanny, I would suggest Koosies or Kushies. You can find them online or at Babies R Us. It is a product made of material that you put in the diaper as a liner when you put your childs diaper on. It is about 8 inches long, flat, rather peanut shaped. Works great. We have been using them on a 5 month old and they keep him, his pjs and crib dry."

Terry C replied: "Depends on whether they are loose on him...If they are, you actually need to go down..."

Lisa R replied: "Depending on his size and weight, you may want to move to a larger size. or you could buy rubber pants to place over the diaper. Also you might want to go in and change him during the night before you go to bed. he is probably wetting several times and that one diaper can't hold it all. Good Luck."

metalwolf098 replied: "I wear huggies in the day, and pampers during the evening and i never leak. Even after i eat a nice hot steak."

Fatcat replied: "In my opinion, all diapers are the same. It doesn't matter how well they advertise on TV or Ads. You just have to change it more often. The best way to prevent a night-time leaking is to change his diaper before you put him to sleep. On the other hand, you definitely can go up a size, but you have to make sure that you tighten the diaper at his waist so that it doesn't fall off at night and result in another type of "night-time" leaking. Good luck!"

purple28980 replied: "There are things that my sister used with my neice, They are kind of like pads. They go in diapers. I guess they are used at night and stuff to make the diaper more absorbant. I don't know what they were called sorry. If you are interested I would ask at any baby store or baby section they should know what you are talking about."

workingmotheroftwinboys replied: "make sure the penis is facing down. I've had great success with placing another diaper over another or try the huggies over nights and use them for over night only.since you change more frequent during the day you can use the less expensive brands during the day."

I like Pie replied: "start urinating on him"

Kimi W replied: "I have 7 month old twin girls that wear the Huggies size 3 that have had this problem as well. I bought these things called "diaper doubles" at Babies R Us. It is a little pad that goes in the diaper at night and is great. We have had no leaks or anything. A package was like 7.99 and it has saved me from changing the crib sheets!! Hope this helps, it has been a total time saver for us."

karenM. ^_^ replied: "you dont have anything to do. it's normal. and everybody do the same when we were a baby. okie? so dont be panic, and just relax. accept what your son do, that's a part of a family life! good luck and to your family! have a great day! n_n"

simonselmira replied: "I can't believe that I'm see this post. I had that problem with huggies, don't know why. I even thought that a bigger size might work. You need to switch. I actually went back to the Costco, Kirkland brand, generic diaper. No more leaks. I think Huggies is good for during the day when they are crawling, etc. Switch."

Son's diaper leaking at night. What do you do to prevent this? My son is 5.5 months old and his diapers are leaking at night. I'm thinking of going and buying a size bigger for nights to prevent the leaking. Has anyone tried this? What do you do to prevent leaky diapers? I use Huggies Snug & Dry.

pwood702 replied: "Buy a better quality diaper."

♥♥♥♥ replied: "I had to get the more expensive diapers for at night. i could change my daughter all i wanted but because of the way she slept it would always happen."

♥Chelsea TTC #1♥ replied: "You will probably need to buy bigger diapers. That, or try a different brand. Absorbencies vary quite a bit from diaper to diaper. I think my niece used to use Huggies, but they would always soak through. Now they're using Pampers, and they seem to go a little longer. Good luck!"

Jessica J replied: "limit his drinks before bed time and buy a quality diaper...Huggies Supreme work well with my boys and i let them drink tea and they wet some diapers...but not before bed time"

nyliah1 replied: "What brand do you use. My son is now two and the only diaper that didn't leak for his size was Luvs. They are pretty affordable based on the other brands. A bigger size will just leave room around his legs for the urine to leak out the sides. Try several different brands to see which works best. Sometimes the store brand works best. If your one a budget go to the Diaper companies website and sign up they will usually send you a free sample or a coupon."

Paola R replied: "If they're bigger they may leak even more because the leg holes will be bigger and looser on him. Try changing him before you go to bed as long as it won't wake him. My son would sleep through anything once he was out, but I know not all babies are like this. You could try getting the quality diaper that brags absorbancy levels, and see if it really works."

kaitiemybug replied: "Bigger nappies will help a little but if too big they will make it worse as the nappy wont have a chance to catch the urine. Buying the best quality nappy you can afford isprobablyy the best thing you can do. To protect the mattress put down a waterproof sheet (if itdoesn'tt already have one built in). NOTE: never EVER! limit a babies fluid intake. EVER!"

reneaumommy replied: "The huggies overnights work well. If you get them on drugstore.com it doesn't come out too expensive and you can get them as small as a 3 (most stores here dont carry them until a 4)."

ktdmsmama replied: "Hi there. the answer is not really in changing sizes, possibly brands. The cheaper diapers are not really cheaper in the long run if they're leaking. If you already are using the better brands, I have a strange suggestion. Weird, but it works. When you go to park him for the night, stick a maxi pad in his diaper. It'll stop some of that leaking! I have 2 god children along with 4 of my own, and that's what my godsons mom does! Also, try limiting the amount of liquids he takes right before bed. Or even after his night night bottle, keep him up for just a while, and change him one last time before he goes down for the night. Hopefully this is helpful! Happy parenting!!"

Cruz R replied: "Buy leak free diapers"

Navihs replied: "Try to change his pampers before bed and if it still continues... try pull ups."

Lulu86 - Mr Boo Boo's mummy replied: "I moved my son up a size when his nappy started leaking, this seemed to fix the problem."

what is the best brand diapers to use so babies don't leak at night? i have to change my son twice at night when we go to bed cus he leaks through his diapers, what diapers would be best to use so he dont end up soaked every morning from his diapers leaking?

inconspicuous.s.n. replied: "don't use huggies we had serious leaks with my little brother"

newbiesgirl replied: "PAMPERS, PAMPERS< PAMPERS< PAMPERS!!! I swear by Pampers! Huggies SUCK!!"

Bob B replied: "Huggies Supreme (expensive) has been great for our two in diapers. No leak problems at all."

OCMama05 replied: "I love Pampers. Have tried huggies, Luvs and generic brands. Pampers are the best. Hands down."

daisybugfriend replied: "I have 5 children and i only use loves they worked the best.."

nena replied: "pampers by far. huggies leaked."

Marie K replied: "Huggies are AWFUL.. don't use them! lol Pampers are probably the best, I've never had a leak using Pampers. If he's still leaking through Pampers, try either using the next size up overnight, or adding a maxi-pad to the inside (in the front since he's a boy)."

peyton31602 replied: "I use pampers or huggies. Both have been great for all 3 of my children. If your baby is waking up at night still for feedings then your going to have to change him anyhow. I have tried generic diapers w/ my first and forget it..... I would rather spend the extra cash and get a better brand, that I know works well for them. It all depends on the baby. Some diapers work well for some and others don't."

J Moe replied: "Well, all of my friends who have babies use Pampers. Did you know they have pads that you can put in diapers to use overnight? My bro uses them for his son. They absorb the pee, and they don't change him until morning unless he awakes b/f then. I wish I knew exactly what they were called, but I don't. Just go to a store and ask for pads for babies diapers and I'm sure they will help you."

Chewie replied: "I have always preferred Huggies"

julie replied: "pampers baby dry especially made for night time."

Melissa replied: "I don't know how old your son is but we had this problem with mine when he was in a size 4 diaper. They were the size he needed according to the weightchart on the package, however, when I accidentally bought size 5 diapers and used them, the leaks stopped. Now I only use size 5. They're the Luvs brand and work great!! We've also used Huggies and had lots of leaks."

Kat C replied: "The most expensive ones - you get what you pay for."

libqueen replied: "Don't go generic for nighttime. Huggies, Pampers and Luvs are all good. Huggies Supreme and Pampers Cruisers were great to prevent leaks. Keep in mind that when babies get cold, they wet more. So do toddlers etc. I usually changed my children at least once during the night to be sure they were comfortable. They rarely woke up and I went to bed feeling secure that they would be alright until morning. Name brand is best, be sure the size is correct and, be sure his "privates" are facing down so he pees into the diaper and not up towards the top (as well as for the comfort). Best of luck"

prncessang228 replied: "i have 3 little girls (all out of diapers now thank goodness) and for all 3-i always used pampers or luvs. huggies were awful!! i stopped using them when my oldest girl was 3 months old b/c even back then they leaked luvs were really good b/c they were cheaper than the pampers and worked better."

victoria o replied: "depends what age he is i found that huggies are the best till they start walking then i change to pampers."

Jacob's Mommy replied: "PAMPERS!!!!!!!!!!! We use Pampers Baby-Dry...they have a built in extra absorber so it will hold more. Make sure his diaper fits correctly also...the size chart isn't always accurate...you may want to buy a small pack of the next size up and see if that helps also. Good luck!!"

Amy A replied: "i am going to agree with most people on here. PAMPERS!!!!! I think i went through 5 or 6 different brands of diapers with my son. We finally bought pampers, i never had to change him once through the night. it was nice. especially since he started sleeping through the night at one month. he slept, i slept it was nice!!"

Exquisite replied: "Huggies SUPREME."

fyrechick replied: "Everyone is going to tell you their favorite brand and really it is a personal choice. What I found worked when my son was soaking his bed at night is just moving up to the next size diapers. It worked for me and I didn't spend lots of money on diapers I hated."

Diapers keep leaking at night? My son is 7.5 weeks old and has been sleeping pretty good at night for the last week. Problem is...after 5-6 hours of sleep I end up picking him up completely drenched in pee! He is using Pampers Swaddlers. I switched to Pampers Dry (not sure of the full name, they are in a green package) and those still do the same thing! I feel terrible that he is having to sleep in that. Plus I hate having to get him cleaned fully every morning at 4-5am! He is tired, and hungry and screaming and waking up my 4year old & fiance, but I don't want to feed him covered in urine! Any other type of diaper I can try? Does anybody else have this problem? I really don't want to have to wake him up just to change his diaper. :( He is doing sooo good! With my daughter I tried EVERY kind of diaper brand until I found Pampers. They were the ONLY ones that didn't leak with her. Now here I am with my son, and even Pampers are leaking! 1st time mom - i don't have the problem during the day. it's only at night. and to wake a sleeping baby is torture, lol. especially when i'm half asleep myself! I thought about going up a size, but he's already in a size 1-2 in Pampers. They are a bit big on him. He weighs 11.5 lbs. The newborns leaked also, that's why I moved up a size. Which sucks cause I still have more than half a box full of newborns :( cute redhead - 5-6 hours IS his night time feeding. He is sleeping almost through the whole night.

Noah's Mommy & Marine Wife. replied: "Time to move up a size."

Danielle replied: "I tried every freakin diaper there was. I was having the same problems too. I started off with the pampers because thats what the hospital gave me. then i used what i had from the baby showers. my son stopped being through his diapers when i changed to HUGGIES. He has NEVER peed through them. THey are the best. He sleeps from 8 at night to 7 in the morning...and no leaking! I will never go back to pampers."

1st time mom replied: "The only time i have that problem is when i dont change my babys diaper that often. 5-6 hours is a long time anyway...try changing it more regularly. Diapers can only hold so much"

Landon's Mommy! replied: "I personally have less leaking problems with huggies. The Pampers I had leaked like crazy with my son, I was changing his clothes with every diaper. With huggies it only has leaked i think once. Might also just be the size?"

Sarah M replied: "I use huggies overnights for my son at night. His diaper was leaking every night until I tried the overnight diapers and they haven't leaked since. He wears a size 3 so I'm not sure if they make them in all sizes or just for older babies."

manicmousy replied: "my daughter went thru a short spell of leaking. i don't remember what brand we were using, but someone told me to go up a size. we tried the overnights too, and those didn't work. i loved the pampers swaddlers. we also use the huggies baby fit, and used luvs, but my daughter broke out in a rash on her koo koo from something in the luvs. which sucks cuz they're cheaper. the walmart brand, parent's choice, are great! don't go with white cloud, my sister said they fall apart. good luck!"

Just Me replied: "I'm not sure if they have them for such young kids but with my nephew we use night time diapers. He is in a size 6 at the moment and there are regular diapers along with night time diapers. The night time ones keep more since he is wearing it longer, if you haven't tried them yet you should check if the make them in the size your son wears."

Debbie V replied: "You need extra moisture control. Take a second clean Pampers diaper, and cut out the entire core of the diaper. Get the plastic, too. Place the core in the center of baby's new, clean diaper. (If baby pees before you can fasten the diaper, you need to start over). Fasten the diaper and go back to sleep. TX Mom"

khyoung69 replied: "Ok, this may be a penis placement issue. The placement of his penis in the diapers is key to keeping him dry. IF his penis is sticking straight up, well, that's where all the pee is going to go. Try tucking it in a little and see what results you get. I also am a Huggies fan but I've used generic brand diapers as well, too, with no issues. IF he continues to leak after trying Huggies, there is an item called a Diaper Doubler. Looks like a huge maxi pad. I get a bag in Publix for about $3 and it has 30 pads. I place this in my daughter's diaper at night (she drinks about 3 oz at dinner and another 8 oz of milk right before bed) and she drinks a ton and is still dry at 7 am almost 12 hrs later."

cms replied: "Seventh Generation works great great great, mother of a 7 MONTH OLD. Prices are the same as pampers, and have the same build design!"

Emily E replied: "As a mom of both boys and girls, I have a couple tricks. 1, I always used Huggies and loved them, they are the same price at most stores. 2, with baby boys you need to make sure their penis is pointed down when you put a diaper on them or they can pee put the top of their diaper. And if it is on 5 hours, he may pee more then once causing more problems then you see during the day. 3, make sure it is tight enough around the top, too loose and pee can escape. 4, he may need a bigger size."

SS replied: "use luvs, they don't leak, I used them for all three of my children"

Maghen replied: "tuck his penis pointing his feet and use pampers cruisers. they're the best! when he's a little bigger use huggies overnights. my daughter started wearing them when she was about 20 pounds."

hey_its_me! replied: "if they are newborn diapers then that is probably why. move up to size one at night time. i had the same problem with pampers when my daughter needed a bigger size at night they would leak. now i cheaped out and bought huggies ugh never again. all they do is leak they are the worse diapers ever."

Caden and Makayla's mom replied: "Huggies or the walmart brand parents choice is what I use and have had no problems. Pampers leaked with my son also and I really did not liked how they fit him. But have had no problems with my daughter using the brands i said."

TRC replied: "I love the swaddlers. Maybe you should stick with the newborn for now. It sounds like they might be too big -- not too small."

rmjrussell replied: "I saw this in Parents magazine, but haven't tried it yet. Put a women's pad at the top back of their diaper. It helps absord the extra liquid."

spldclvsbrt11 replied: "try moving a size up and try huggies i found that for a boy the absorb a lot more than pampers. all so change him right before he goes down that helped a lot. plus huggies has a overnight diaper but i have no clue whats the smallest size they start with"

S_Mgr replied: "That's so weird...this just started happening with my son! Someone made me a diaper cake for my shower and I was using those diapers and he was leaking out of them like crazy at night! So I asked her what brand they were and she said "market basket brand" so I assummed that it was because they we're cheap...so I started using the pampers again (our favorite) and he leaked through them too! I don't know why! He is wearing a size 1 and he is 6 weeks old...last time he was weighed (about 3 weeks ago) he was 9lbs..11oz...and the size 1 diapers go until 14 lbs i think...so i dont think it is time for you or me to up the size yet! Sorry I couldn't be much help but just so you know your not alone! LOL"

cute redhead replied: "Problem is...after 5-6 hours of sleep I end up picking him up completely drenched in pee! I don't want to feed him covered in urine! changing him more often maybe change him before each feeding? i never bought the expensive diapers i didn't see any point in spending a lot of money on something that just gets peed and poohed in, and if you are really easy you can change the baby with out even waking him up, dress him in something comfy and with easy access to the diapered area, i know your tired, with new baby sleep doesnt come often for mom but thats the only option you have really is to change him more often, make sure the diaper is not to lose, if its lose it will cause leaking even with out the diaper being full"

Leaking diapers at night? My son is 13 months old and very rarely does he wake up in the morning not soaked threw his diaper. I don't give him much to drink before bed so this isn't the problem. He also never seems to wet threw until early morning...like 4 or 5. Basically what I'm asking is what can I do to keep him dry? I've tried a few different diapers, pampers, luv's, huggies, and huggies overnights(those are the worst diapers by the way lol), and none seem to help. He also sleeps on his tummy which doesn't help either. Has anyone tried the water proof diaper covers for cloth diapers, if so did that help at all. Thanks for any help you can give.

jess K replied: "hey my little girl had the same prob what i done was stopped drinks from 5pm i also used pampers with a water proof cover it helped , another thing to do is change him about 5 in morning/? but it may wake him xx good luk x"

barbara g replied: "Maybe switch to the next size up in diapers? Maybe they will hold more fluid."

madiesmum replied: "if you know roughly what time he does this morning pee get him up and sat on a potty. that way the nappy wont get as wet. try changing him before you go to bed. mine goes to bed at 8.30 with a dry nappy, i usually change it about 10 when i go to bed and then early morning about 4am. i change the nappy if i dont get her on the potty in time. before i dicovered this i was changing her night nappy almost as much as in the day time - every couple of hours or so."

Harrys mummy! Baby #2 due June x replied: "Hey hun, this has happened with my son a few times, What I did was move up a size in nappies. It worked for me. Maybe reduce his fluid intake a little earlier? I have never tried cloth nappies so sorry I cant help with that but also you can try those bed mats to stop him wetting the mattress too. Good luck x"

Cade can't hear the trolls! replied: "I was gong to suggest the vinyl covers. I use them but I use cloth and we never have leaks anymore."

Waiting for ♥Isaiah♥ 12/13/08 replied: "Move him up to the next size for nighttime. That's what we did with our daughter. She goes longer stretches at night between diaper changes, so her diapers are more full. She would always leak through the 3's, so we moved her up to a 4 at night only, and she hasn't leaked through at night since."

louie replied: "one size up might help. just curious, how do you know its only happening around 4-5 in the morning? if you are checking on him prior to that, like midnight or so, then change him then... dont worry about waking him,he will fall back asleep. if you are not checking on him, then maybe he is needing a change around 12,or 1 and you just dont know it, so by the time 4-5 rolls around the diapers is too full and leaks.. i dont know, just a thought."

Cecelia R replied: "Go a size up and get Pampers. Visit for FREE BABY STUFF!"

kbz2002 replied: "We use cloth diapers and we don't have a problem. Try getting a pocket cloth diaper like BG's or HH or FB (you can try diaperswappers.com for used, or just about any other website for new). I suggest getting two inserts a microfiber one for on top and a hemp one for on bottom. Microfiber will absorb pee quickly (which is why it goes on top, however hemp absorbs a lot, it just doesn't absorb quickly which is why you need two, otherwise you'll end up with leaks due to it not being able to absorb too quickly). Good luck!"

my 2 year old son is leaking through his diapers at night? I have tried the huggies overnights those didnt work and the past 3 nights i have tried the overnights the ones for older kids that are supposed to hold 27mg and these also leaked he wakes up at 5 soaked in pee hes not drinking more milk then he used to he only has maybe 8oz of milk before bed does anyone know any other diapers to use or any ideas? PLEASE HELP! it cant be good for him to be sleeping with pee all over him i hate it! any suggestions will help!

Lina replied: "let him drink earlyer during the day but not as much as night and make him use the toilet before he goes to bed."

Momto2inFL replied: "Usually leaking for us means that we need to move to the next size up. I use Pampers and have never had issues with leaking. And as silly as it sounds, because we have a boy, we have to make sure his little weenie is pointing down or he could have the potential to soak himself. We stop liquids by 7 pm because he WILL pee like crazy if we give him anything more. But we’re thankful right now that he wakes up dry so we’re in the process of potty training…. ** ADD ** The age you potty training has nothing to do with “popularity”. It has to do with when your child shows you the signs that they’re ready. You introduce things, if they show interest, you introduce a bit more. It’s not a simple process for some children, while for others, it’s cake. Some kids do well, than they decide to stop. It’s all about the comfort of the child and not about the “norm” of potty training. At least that’s how we do things in our home!"

♥♥Mummy ♥♥Sarah♥♥ replied: "In all fairness at 2 you should have atleast tried to toilet train him. maybe it's time to make a start on that. good luck EDIT ok, so i understand that it's popular to wait till age 3 to train them nowadays, but if you don't want to change wet nappies anymore then why not just train them, at 2 he is old enough to make a start, think of how much money you'll save!"

dragonfirenova IsMyMainYimTag replied: "lol was gonna say exactly what momto2 above me said :-p"

Jaja replied: "Train him to go to the toilet. Or you can put something soft but thick on the place he is sleeping on."

Sarah H replied: "i would either try to cut back on his liquid intake before bed OR you could also try child size Goodnights. my sister does this with her son as a last resort and they work really well for her. by the way, what size diapers do you have him in? oh, and when i put my son to bed for the night i pull the diaper up over his front more. since the majority of his fludis (ew sorry) is going there. and he doesnt poo at night."

proudmommy replied: "I use a size bigger for nightime, and that always works for us. If we start leaking at night, I know it's time to move up (even if she's not in the weight listed on the box)."

QuestionMark replied: "About half way through the night just go in and check if he is wet, if he is then change him, that way if he goes again later that nigh he won't overflow the diaper."

shirleyjean89 replied: "try switching to luvs...that's what i use for my daughter and they work like a charm."

What kind of diapers do you use at night? The past few nights I have been laying my daughter down at about 10 pm with a fresh diaper (Pampers) and when I get her up for the day at around 8 am she has pee all up her back from the diaper leaking. What kind of diaper should I be using for all night?

Kendra replied: "I had the same problem when my son was little. I used Huggies Overnights. They worked wonders!!"

Nina replied: "I have used Luvs on all my babies. I think they are the best."

d replied: "You could try going up a size. Get a small pack of bigger diapers for nighttime. That's what i did when mine were small. Good luck."

Sarah's M♥mmy~#2 Due In May!!!~~7~~ replied: "I found Pampers leaked alot when I had a pack....have you tried huggies in the all red pack..I'm having a brain fart I cant think of the right name...But they work really well , I haven't had any leaks. OH yea Supreme? I think..lol sorry"

nini0207 replied: "We use either a Goodmama fitted diaper with a wool cover, or a BumGenius pocket diaper. Both work great, we've never had any leaks. Cloth diapers rock!"

Tasha replied: "I use Pampers and they work fine. Maybe try a size bigger or your baby may be having to much to drink before bed time."

Danielle replied: "This happens to my 4 month old son alllll the time! It never fails! I have been using pampers but I am about to try huggies to see if those are better."

~expecting #2~ replied: "Either you change her diaper in the middle of the night or use Huggies overnight diapers. I use Parents Choice Diapers. I haven't had a leak yet. However I do change her diaper in the middle of the night because she would wake up when her diaper is really full. My daughter is anal when it comes to her diaper. HAHAH, I can tell."

shoregirl replied: "We use Huggies. This is probably a passing phase and, for us, this usually indicates it's time to go up a diaper size!"

seximama4u86 replied: "I use pampers swaddlers during the day. And the regular pampers at night. After i give my daughter a bath at night time i give her a bottle and then change her diaper after i burp her....that way she has a chance to pee right after she eats. I put her new diaper on and hold her for a little bit before she falls asleep. I never had a problem with pampers, but i know that huggies overnight diapers work well too. Give them a try."

Christina replied: "I actually called Pampers because I had the EXACT same problem!! They said it was because the diaper I had my daughter in was too small. I thought that was a weird explanation. For a while there we went to Babies R Us and got Diaper Doublers (in the diaper section; basically they are like women's pads but no stickiness). You put that in the diaper and put the whole thing on. We did get a bigger size diaper after we ran out of the doublers and believe it or not, it worked! I highly advise you calling Pampers. They sent me 2 $10 off coupons of mega pack or larger."

Mommy2Aly replied: "I usually use LUVS and haven't had any problems with them. BTW...I love your daughter's bouncy seat! (My daughter has the same one.)"

Tracey replied: "Huggies has Overnights. They're in a purple pack and start at size 3, I think. My daughter wears Luvs and they seem to hold up REALLY well. She's almost three. Luvs are cheaper, too. Maybe give them a try. The only other suggestion is sometimes going up a size in diapers can help prevent leaks, but if your daughter just moved up a size, that won't really help."

Peanut Butter replied: "I use Walmart's Parent's Choice at night and don't have troubles. Ideally, I'd use cloth at night, but my littlest is very prone to rashes and has problems with cloth at night."

HAPPY MOMMY replied: "We had to start using Huggies Overnights. They are not the pull up kind, their regular diapers and they have made a big difference for us."

mama.toangel replied: "the same as the day, but i change my girl through the night, i take it your girl is not a young baby, who has a feed through the night too, otherwise thats the time to do a change!!"

my 1st has arrived replied: "i had the same problem with huggies and pampers, i like luvs they are also cheaper"

Ask Meg replied: "I found that Luv's are the best diaper all around! I have tried all of the other brands and would get leaks. Not with Luv's though!"

Sexy Mama replied: "i use huggies overnites with my 2 yr old son...they work awesome...i used em with my daughter when she was my son's age(she is now 10)"

What diapers REALLY protect against leaks at night? My daughter is 18 months old and sleeps through the night and lately has been getting up between 5am-6am due to the fact that her diaper is soaked. We stopped giving her liquids after 5pm. Yet, she still wakes up soaked. Any good diaper suggestions? I've tried Luvs, Pampers and Huggies. Thanks!

billy.roberts2010 replied: "My grandma uses Depends. Her bed is never wet at night!"

cutiej60 replied: "I find Huggies Night Time really good."

m'smama replied: "I've been using Diaper Doublers in addition to my son's regular diaper to keep him from wetting through at night - it's like a pad you just put inside the diaper as an extra layer of absorption. The "nighttime" diapers never worked for us!"

Jaime replied: "Goodnights are for older kids with bigger bladders. But if they fit, they will work like a charm."

miraclebaby_2006 replied: "pampers... i love panpers no name brands really gave my son a diaper rash and huiggies my son seems to poop out the side"

chikie replied: "go a size up for night time, i found in my experience that when the diaper isnt holding anymore, they need the next size up"

celesteina replied: "Huggies. Pampers and Luvs are too thin. Huggies hold more liquids."

What can i do to stop diaper leaks at night? My son is 13 mos, he sleeps on his tummy at night and wakes up in the morning wet. Not sure what i can do? I've tried changing his diaper before i go bed, cutting up smaller diaper and putting it in his diaper overnight and he still wakes up wet sometimes. HELP!!!!!

blooming chamomile replied: "Try Huggies Overnight. They really are more absorbent."

Misty F replied: "They sell extra pads that you can put in there, they almost look like a large maxi pad. They worked for me. Good luck"

jamee m replied: "I had the same problem ... I buy the huggies overnight in a size larger than what he usually wears and just make sure it is secure around him it helps bc they are bigger and they will hold more .. that way baby can have a good night sleep without being wet.. now i dont have the messy bed .. lol .. Try that ..."

ozzigirl replied: "Exactly as Misty F said, I had the same problem with my son, always waking up soaked through, so I bought the extra nappy pads to use at night and problem solved. EDIT I've just checked back on this question, now with 10 answers - whats with all the thumbs down? there's been some good suggestions from everyone and different successful ideas - if if didn't work for you, there's no need to knock it if it worked for someone else."

Kelsey. replied: "As the first user suggested, try overnight diapers because they are more adsorbent. If that still doesn't work then decrease the amount of liquid he intakes before bed and change him during the night."

tonilynne replied: "We had the same problem with my daughter, we stopped giving her things to eat/drink about an hour before putting her to bed, then the last diaper we change before she goes to bed will have most of the stuff from her bladder in it (it takes your body 1 hour to process your food and 30 minutes for liquid to hit your bladder). Seemed to to the trick! We don't "deprive" her of it, if she really wants a drink we give her a drink, but don't let her just carry her sippy around if you know what I mean! This worked for us maybe it will work for you too!!! Toni Lynne =)"

wvchick replied: "I had the same problem too. I ended up buying the potty training pants...(the plastic ones) and putting those on over his diaper. what the diaper leaked out, the training pants would catch. and you can just wash them out and reuse."

QuestionMark replied: "You may need to go to the next size up for the night time. Because when there are leaks that's usually the signal that you need to go to the next size up. Or you could go with a diaper that is specifically for night time, like huggies overnights."

stressedmommy replied: "I would go up a size in diaper and try putting an extra towel or blanket under him. Also decreasing the amount of fluids an hour before bed. This happened with my son too as he sleep ton his stomach and still does at 2. For some reason they seem to leak more that way. A friend of mine tried putting diaper on backwards and she said it worked for her daughter but not sure if it helps with a boy. Worse case scenario get overnight pullups in smallest size and put over diaper"

quartzite555 replied: "of course his diapers wet... he is barely a year old! if the diapers leak put two diapers on, one over other or buy a different brand"
