Khakis Brown Shoes in Q&A
Does a black long sleeze collar shirt look ok with brown khakis and black shoes? I am 18 years old and i have an important dance to attend tomorrow. I am wearing a Black long sleeve collared shirt and i am still deciding if i should wear black or brown Khakis and what color shoes. Please help. Thankyou.

tora s replied: "that'll look fine---just don't unbutton it down to your chest with several gold chains on"

Allie P replied: "I personally do not think Black and brown (like the khaki's) match. Maybe a white button up? If you are wearing Khaki's, black or brown shoes would work, just make sure your socks match your shoes. Black pants mean only wear black shoes."

usmc_jrotc replied: "hell no you bet not put that shit on that is tackie and ugly as all hell NO find somthing else to wear !!!"

Claudia replied: "Well, black and brown don't really look good together and don't match, so if you're going to wear a black top for sure, that means that you have to wear all black, unless you have a little colour in the material. But you don't necessarily have to wear all black if all of the clothes that you wear are black. What I mean is that you should add some jewelry. Any colourful colour would be fine, but I would wear gold and silver won't look that good on such a dark colour like black. Another thing, if you have long hair, don't put it up. Make it wavy or straight. I hope I helped!"

atbkkj replied: "yes that would look good"

kev859 replied: "not if they are really dark in color, otherwise yes."

Does black long-sleeve collared shirt, khaki pants, brown shoes/belt work for business casual? Three female coworkers have commented. One tells me brown and black never match, one thinks I look sexy, one says it's best I'm wearing brown shoes, otherwise I would look like a waiter. I'm a colorblind, heterosexual male, so I have no idea.

lilbit replied: "The brown shoes and belt does not go with the black shirt."

truefirstedition replied: "The idea that "black and brown never match" is very old-school. If you glance through catalogs or websites (check J.Crew and Banana Republic), you'll see that black and brown are often paired together, especially for business-wear. So if you like your outfit and you've got 2/3 compliments, I'd say you're in good shape."

XLouXEverXso replied: "um I would say no but I don't really have much experience in casual clothing"

Can you wear khaki socks with brown shoes? The socks match the pants. If the khaki socks aren't right, what color socks should I wear? Brown?

boothster84 replied: "yeah that would fine to me. no one even stares at you socks anyway."

love replied: "white or black but if you pants cover your socks it realy dosent matter"

chwiggett replied: "Always match shoes and socks- brown shoes= brown (or black) socks. If you're wearing dressier shoes, go for a nude knee-high stocking."

Daisy replied: "If you can, why not wear secret socks."

Do I have to wear brown shoes/belt with tan or taupe khakis...or can I do black shoes/belt? (for a man, btw)? I've worked in the men's dept in retail...and I was never really sure where the rule landed on this one for men. Maybe the color of shirt matters?

{emine} replied: "Honestly, I think you could do both. :]"

Jacob Riley replied: "Black shoes and black belt. All brown looks dumb"

cr replied: "it is okay to wear a black belt and shoes with tan or taupe pants."

skyco81 replied: "As long as the shoes and belt match."

tranquility.angel replied: "You don't have to wear brown, you can wear black the good thing about it is it goes with anything really my favorite color black!"

Which color of casual shoes (brown or black) go better with blue jeans? How about with tan khakis? When I say "casual shoes" I am referring to something like Born, Merrell, or Doc Martens.

Ashley M replied: "brown, definitely"

sarah the ...sparkleshooter replied: "Black."

jshorepr replied: "Since they are both primary colors: brown especially with kaki. It almost looks off if someone wears brown and black together."

missashley929 replied: "black goes better with blue jeans, khakis- definitley brown shoes!"

Meg replied: "Brown with both. Unless the Jean or khakis are light and then Black looks better. Take a look at the thread on the jeans, try and work with that. If the thread is a brown, or tan, go brown. If the thread is blue, white, or black, go black. That usually indicates the wash of the jeans and should help match colors. Hope this helps."

Heather replied: "It depends on what color shirt you will be wearing....."

niño Mimado replied: "black"

lucynlynsey replied: "brown. they are the best with everything! if you have a black shirt---black shoes! everything else BROWN!!!! lol"

Pianojazzman replied: "Black with blue... Brown with Khakis"

Nancy replied: "blue jeans...black and brown khakis...brown and only brown trust me i kno this stuff"

Mindless replied: "black goes best with anything and everything"

Lisa H replied: "either, depends more on the top that I am wearing with it. i do tend to wear brown with khaki and black with jeans."

Help! Does a blue buttondown shirt go good with khaki pants and brown shoes? I really need to get laid.

Donnie replied: "yeah..."

Amanda M replied: "Maybe you should get a better outfit then."

danica e replied: "ehh depends what shade of blue and dark brown or light probley not too much"

melissal_25 replied: "try jeans, a white button down shirt open, black t shirt , and black shoes"

catherine i replied: "Hi from France ♫ Why not ? Have a nice day, Cat."

acameronfan replied: "I think dark blue and khaki would look cute...maybe w/ like brown flats."

Should I wear brown or black shoes with this outfit? (please read on)? It's a light blue short-sleveed argile sweater with a some black in it, and a black shirt underneath (it sticks out the bottom a little)-- with a pair of light-colored (casual) khaki pants. Should I wear brown or black shoes? I have heard that you wear brown shoes with khakis, but what if you have black elsewear in your outfit? Thanks.

Kayla L replied: "you can wear black w/ khakis, and since your sweater has some black in it, wear black shoes"

Kimberly Q replied: "I think you should go with the black to match the black in your sweater. This sounds like it will pull the outfit together ."

chrissythacker replied: "black shoes"

Faith replied: "Black shoes! you can't have brown with black no matter what :)"

Imaka replied: "You can wear either and it will work - the brown will match the khakis and the black will match the black in the sweater. Best of both worlds! :)"

Claire replied: "Black definately"

Garrett B replied: "Either could work, but I think black shoes are a bit better with black and blue in the top portion of your ensemble."

Ally replied: "You know, people say that black and brown dont mix, and don't even try it.- thats bogus. Obviously if you have mainly black or mainly brown youre going to wear what you have the most of... BUT you can wear either with this outfit, and the way to determine how is to see what accessories you will be wearing with it. If you are going for a darker look (alot of makeup up-darker, a darker or black purse, darker earrings ect) then you can wear the black shoes. If you have a lighter or tan purse, going for a more natural makeup look and have lighter accessories, then go for the brown. Its really what else you are pairing it with for this outfit..."

Makiyo replied: "To me, black shoes can match any outfits! Futhermore, you've a black shirt wearing underneath your sweater. So I think black shoes should match!"

L replied: "Go with the black"

Newlywed replied: "Either would look fine...I would wear the ones that are most comfortable!"

Crystal C replied: "BLACK lol Im not a picky person but a petpeeve of mine is seeing someone with black and brown clashing. khaki is more in the light tan/white category. It would look nice and pull your oufit together much better! :}"

jenn c replied: "What I do sometimes is wear the brown shoes, only if I have an accessory like a brown purse or a brown necklace when I'm wearing a diff colored top. For example I wore a light blue sweater yesterday with tan slacks, and wore brown heels with a brown necklace and brown purse(clutch)"

Can you wear black shoes with brown clothing? I know that you can't wear black and brown together as clothing but I heard, rather know, that black shoes go with anything. Would black shoes go ok with my outfit (brown blazer, khaki button shirt, and brown pencil skirt)? Thanks and no bad language or rude comments.

ViRg() replied: "It's OK but I'm afraid it'll look a tad too monotonous. Maybe a similar hue for the shoes like khaki/camel, perhaps."

Rob ZmB replied: "black shoes match everything. in fact it's probably a good idea to buy most of your shoes in black."

shopaholichick321 replied: "Neutral colors go with anything, including other neutrals (brown and black). In your case i wouldnt say to wear those shoes with that outfit, because practically the whoel outfit is brown. If you had a different colored skirt (denim pencil skirt) and maybe a printed shirt (since the blazer is already a solid color, it looks nice if you break it up with a cute pattern)."
