Memory Foam Mattress 8 Inch Resource in Q&A
Do I HAVE to wait 24 hours for the memory foam mattress? I just bought a 1.5 inch memory foam mattress.. it says to wait 24 hours before using so it can "inflate' after being packaged. Its been about 8 hours and i measured the depth and its 1.5 inches so is it ok to sleep on then? I dont want to wait 24 hours because there isnt anything to sleep on and no where to put it >.>

Iknowalittle replied: "We bought a 4inch one in January of this year. Took it out of the box, left it out for about 3 hours, it was 4 inches when measured. So we popped it on the bed and it has been wonderful ! Go ahead and sleep away ! We love ours. Tip: If it is like ours, the cover will unzip 2/3 of the way around. Unzip it completely, stand it up on end, into the side that didn't unzip, catch the corner in the cover at the top, and work the cover on it from the top, pull the sides together , and zip as you go. Other wise it is going to be a wrestling match ! It is easier if you have a friend to help. Enjoy..."

P K S replied: "Got a new 10" memory foam mattress just last week. The instructions said to allow 24 - 48 hours. . . it was "ready" in about 6 hours. No problem. Lay your weary head down on it and sleep like a baby. You're going to love it!!!"

memory foam mattress question - is 8 inches thick enough? also, do you use your box-springs with a memory foam mattress? or does it not need one?

goalman15 replied: "yes its fine i have a 4 inch one and i can barely feel the bars because its old. and im not sher if you need the box springs."

MJ replied: "An 8" Memory foam mattress most likely has 1-2" of memory foam and the rest is support foam. You need to understand that this is a firmer type mattress. If you are looking for one that conforms to your body and you like it a little firmer then this would be a good choice. Watch out for the companies that bring in Memory foam from China as the quality is not as good. Check out we bought one for our daughter there and she loves it."

Memory foam mattress..any one got one..choices choices WTF one do I buy? What is your experience with a memory foam matress. I am looking at buying a mattress with 3 inches of memory foam (Visco) and 5 iches of regular high density foam> 8 inches total. What is the advantages or disadvantages of a 12 inche with 5 inches of memory foam and 7 inches of B.S.

goldwing110083 replied: "I have the fancy Temporpedic with the 10" foam deal...best bed I have ever owned, but also the most expensive mattress I have ever had. I deserve it! I would not give a dime for their pillows, but I love the mattress."

Should I get a 2" memory foam mattress topper from Serta or a 3" from Soft Sleeper? They both come out to about the same price (about $80). Serta seems to be a more trusted brand, but the extra inch might be nice as well. I'm at college in an uncomfortable "twin extra long" (which turned out just to be a twin) and want to get better sleep. Both got pretty good reviews; which should I get? I've never had memory foam before. Should I spend an extra $60 and get a 3" Serta one? Serta 3" Serta 2" Soft Sleeper 3" Soft Sleeper 4" I've checked at Walmart and Target and the such and the ones I've found all seem to be 1". My friend got the 1" from Target for $20 and it helps a bit, but I'd rather get a thicker one.

butterfly_261 replied: "Go down to your local Wal-mart or dept. store and check for prices there. If not any cheaper there, then go back online and recheck prices. Not too much difference for the size, why pay $60 more? That is extra money that can be used for something else useful."

boredperv replied: "Neither. Save $20 and get the king sized 1.5" pad from overstock and fold it over and do a little trimming. Works great!"

Memory foam mattress? 2ND hand.... good or bad? Hi i have a question about a memory foam mattress. I am bidding on a 3 year old Sealy 8 inch thick 4ft6 Mirrorform mattress. My question is do these wear over time, and will it still keep the shape of the previous persons who owned it? Or just reform to my body shape? Many thanks from C I was wondering is the denser memory foam mattresses that are around80kg m3 firmer than the less denser ones that are around 65kg m3 I know that it also has to do with how thick the memory foam is and the actual mattress depth. Many thanks from C

m m replied: "Bad, it will certainly keep the shape of previous owner and a word of advice: mattresses are just like under wear they will carry not only the shape of its previous owner but also his scent and all other stuff as bacterial, parasites and other if they were present and as you know we all carry around a certain amount of natural flora with us."

findithere replied: "If you are going to spend money on a good mattress, I would go for a new one because mattresses no matter what type or brand will wear off over time and also for hygiene consideration. If cost is a major consideration, you can consider buying a new memory foam mattress topper, instead of a full mattress and add on to your existing bed."

Memory foam mattresses? I was looking at the 8 inch queen size that Walmart carries. I have arthritis and these types of mattresses come highly recommended. Do you have one of these mattresses? I know that they stay warm, so how do you keep yours cool? What do you like and dislike about your mattress? What kind do you have? All answers are much appreciated. Thanks!! :) I have done quite a bit of research, but what I found that it really comes down to is how thick each layer is. The top, which is the memory foam part, is usually 3 inches thick, and the base foam is anywhere from two to twelve inches. Just curious as to who has what and their preferences.

laplandfan replied: "Have you done a web search as in the UK we often see ads on the TV offering these types of mattresses on a 3 month trial before you buy and if you are not satisfied then you just return the mattress ."

chaninemp replied: "We have a Tempurpedic. In the winter it's great as it does hold your body heat. In the summer, not so much - we live in New England without central AC, and it gets nearly "gooey" feeling. There's no real way to "keep it cool." I love the actual support of it and sleeping on it, but my husband doesn't. It's not exactly a "soft" surface like a pillow-top, but you will sink in. Especially in the summer months, if you go to turn over, it will take some effort. ;) The other answer where it was suggested that you "try" it sounds like the best solution. The furniture store at which we bought it had a 90 day "no questions asked" return policy. I think my husband wishes we had returned ours, but I'm happy. It's all up to individual preference."

Gort replied: "Also compare . ."

Bev M replied: "We Bought the 4" memory foam you put on existing mattress and were loving it.. Does the same thing as buying a whole new one.Alot cheaper too. Bought at Wal Mart."
