Can you make really good popcorn on a fire and not burn it? I saw this show and this girl was making popcorn on a fire (burning corn) and it was pitch black! Do you have to be really good at it or is it just really easy?

Orlando57 replied: "theres a campfire type popcorn maker with an extra long handle for this reason and coals are the cooking surface no the fire hold the corn popper out over the fire and as it warms move it and shake it around when one goes then shake and keep it elevated or roll a back log to the edge and use that to hold the corn popper haldle ballanced we made small camp fires and then banked the two sides awy from us with the logs and pushed them into the fire as we needed and cooked on the point they met so we could also there like an old refrigerator shelf we kept to set pans on across hope this gives you ideas and also theres jiffy pop at most stroe it plumps up but keep it away from direct flames"

Steve G replied: "They make it really easy just read the direction and you have it ready in no time, Jiffy Pop Popcorn, I think you can find it in alot of stores"

lindzers99 replied: "Go to the grocery store and buy Jiffy Pop. It can be done over a stovetop or a campfire so long as it's like the right distance from the flames. It's kinda old school, so not all groceries may have it, you'll probably have to ask. It's often hanging in the store b/c it comes in like this tin pan w/ a long looped handle. Basically you have to hold the handle and keep the pan constantly moving over the flame so as not to scorch it. Just follow the instructions - everything you need is already in the pan; I think you have to like remove the label 1st."

multipure417278 replied: "Wow...thanks for the idea...I'm hungry, popcorn sounds great!"

How long are the popcorn tins good for if they are unopened? I have 2 0f these I'm giving as gifts but our christmas was posrponed until January 19th. Will the popcorn still be good and not stale if it is unopened

BlueSea replied: "I'm sure they'll still be good by then. Especially is not opened. Sometimes I wonder when they are actually first put in the tins? Probably sometime in the summer. Hopefully they don't keep the unsold ones and sell them again next season, but I wouldn't be surprised."

Kimberlee replied: "I think those things last forever!!!"

Jamie P replied: "They last well over a year."

What makes cinema popcorn so good compared to microwave popcorn? WHAT MAKES CINEMA POPCORN taste so good ? i dont get it microwave popcorn doesnt taste the same whats missing ???

newmie01 replied: "Movie popcorn is completely saturated with butter."

reggie replied: "With the best will in the world, microwave popcorn is always burnt at the bottom with a few unpopped corns lurking. Cinema popcorn doesn't suffer this disaster"

jessie replied: "Well for me it is the butter. Try Orville Redenbacher's movie theater butter it comes pretty close."

J♥K♥M replied: "The pound of butter you let them drizzle on it!"

Tom ツ replied: "Trans-fat ... that "glop" (coconut or palm oil articificlly flavored). It is soo good, but so bad for you. Also, super-fine salt. Regular table salt doesn't coat the popcorn corn the way super-fine salt does. Fortunately you can buy super-fine salt (often called popcorn salt) at the supermarket near the peanuts and bagged corn kernels"

Ryan H replied: "its not drowned in butter"

MishMash replied: "It is the atmosphere of being at the cinema. They actually taste just as bad."

Ladyhawke replied: "I used to work at a drive-in theatre, and there was nothing better than the little corns getting popped to perfection in the machine. And after filling up the popcorn bags, pouring drizzling hot, melted butter in the bag feeling the warmth trickle down to the bottom. Getting hungry! So am I. I also think it's the theater experience which makes it also good."

shawden replied: "Cos it costs so much more, should taste better!"

Flick replied: "Its the way they do it its fresh, they add the flavourings after the popcorn is popped instead of to the kernels. When you buy pre flavoured popcorn the kernels have been laying in the flavourings and it destroys them instead of making the flavour better like you would expect. Try buying some kernels from your local grocery store they are quite cheap, Put them in a dry pan over a high heat and cover with a plate when the popping stops its ready transfer from pan to a large bowl and add whatever flavouring you use and mix well. This is what i do and the taste is always better than the bought popcorn, and just as good as the cinema. hope this helps :)"

Hayley D replied: "Its absolutely soaked in butter, and as its alraedy pufffed up is absorbing it for as long as it sits unbought, same thing with sugar syrup if its the sweet variety."

Life 123 replied: "The pound of butter you are eating with it."

Mike T replied: "Depends on the cinema. Odeon salted popcorn is awful, but microwave stuff is really nice."
