What is a good, silent, and cool internal hard drive for popcorn hour a-110? gb doesn't need to be that much- it's only to install the nmt apps.
manimal347@rocketmail.com replied: "The WD3200aaks met a good reception at SPCR, the Silent PC Review. Not the fastest drive, but it's far from the slowest, and as it uses just one platter, is among the quietest and coolest available. Any 5400RPM Greenpower is also very quiet and cool, but performance will be very poor compared to 7200RPM models... probably not an issue for a media box."
Popcorn Hour vs. MSI Wind Desktop? So I want to run all my media into my living room. I currently have an XBOX 360, a 5.1 receiver and a 32" LCD HDTV. I was thinking about using the MSI Wind desktop to build a lightweight media pc/server. Then just today I learned about the popcorn hour, which also looks pretty promising. I'm really looking for a low power setup I can leave on all the time that will provide me the most functionality. Does anyone have either of these setups? How do you like them? Any pros and cons on either? What do you think would be the best route? Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Does anyone know how to get the smell of burnt popcorn out of an apartment? Ok, so last night I was doing too many things at once, I guess, and before I knew it my house was filled with smoke from some popcorn I was trying to cook in the microwave. Anyways, I raced around my apartment opening all my doors and windows, I turned on my ceiling fans, and I turned on my A/C to get the air circulating. So, after the smoke cleared, which took about an hour. I still smelled burnt popcorn. I lit candles and sprayed air freshner into the air, but with no success. Will the smell eventually go away? I have a cold, so my nose is all stuffed up, but I still smell the burnt popcorn. I went to work today and I think I smell like it now! Also, does anyone know how to get the butter stains out of the microwave? I have used Windex, a Orange-scented degreaser, and Scrubbing Bubbles, bc that was all I had. I am never cooking popcorn again!! Thanks ahead of time and sorry so long!!
Eric E replied: "FEBREEZE!!!"
nichole replied: "Try to open ur windows, open ur doors, and if this doesn't work, use air freshner, or paint on of the walls with fresh paint and that will help to distract the smell of burnt popcorn away from ur apartment."

Jacob W replied: "If the smell is in fabrics like curtains, clothing and upholstery use febreeze. This happened to me and I couldn't get rid of the smell until I realized it was the microwave itself. The odor came out every time I ran it. I just threw it away and bought a new one.

gigemaggs83 replied: "A great way you remove ant bad odors from a room is to burn a Vanilla scented candle. While the candle is burning you smell the Vanilla scent but afterwards no Vanilla and the bad smell is gone!"
BlueSea replied: "Your microwave probably smells of burnt popcorn. Cut a lemon in half and squeeze the juice into a small bowl of water, microwave on low for 5 minutes. The steam will coat the microwave. Open, and wipe. Lemon is a natural freshener and is recommended for getting rid of order.
Also, you may want to squeeze the juice from the other half into a small pan of water and let it boil to help cleanse the air in your apartment. Of course, watch the pan carefully and turn off when the water boils away."
samantha replied: "open your windows and clean alot thats all i can say eventually it will go away"
What the Deuce?! replied: "The smell of burnt ANYTHING permeates the whole house, and really, the only real "cure" is time. But in the meantime, you can try any or all of the suggestions you've already received.
You might also try simmering some aromatic stuff in a small pot on the stovetop. Use lemon peels, orange peels, some stick cinnamon, vanilla extract, whatever you've got. Fill the pot about 1/2 to 2/3 full of water, put in your aromatics, and bring it to a boil. Then turn the heat down so it's just simmering (leave the lid off the pot), and let it simmer for 20 or 30 minutes. But please keep an eye on it!"
tiffany w replied: "i agree with everyone about the febreeze. use the fabric febreeze on ur curtains furniture and carpet and then get the febreeze air effects and spray around it works wonderful!!!"

Burnt popcorn--How do I get rid of the smell and smoke? It's been over an hour. I accidently set the microwave for 3 mins and the smoke detector went off.
Smoke was coming out of the bag for about 5 minutes. I opened the windows, but the place is still smokey and smells of the nasty burnt popcorn.

Buy a potpourri crock. (they sell them at Wal-Mart)
Then go to a store that sells Yankee brand tarts.
Get a spicey sent with a cinnamon aroma. (Usually their red)
Buy about 3 at least, but don't melt them all at once.
Break them up in the crock and add as needed to get rid of the odor.
Also your house will smell nice a day or two after you use.
Warning, they can become addictive, LOL"

Can I make microwave popcorn and transport it to a picnic to be eaten 3-4 hours later? I want to serve popcorn at the picnic (which will be at a private facility 30 miles away). There are no microwaves or electrical hookups at the picnic. What if I microwave the popcorn at home and transport it? Would it taste weird? Any tips? Thanks!
Amy W replied: "It will probably taste stale"
iammare replied: "I personally wouldn't do it, because I don't think it would taste that good. I think microwave popcorn has an odd oily thing going on that always makes the inside of my mouth feel weird (I have to wipe off my tongue and the roof of my mouth with a napkin when I eat it.)
I'd just go to the bulk food section of your grocery store, and buy a few bags of popcorn - it's air popped, so it doesn't have that weird oily film.
It's 100% a textural thing for me."
fantasize84 replied: "Of course.once it cools store in an airtight container until ready to eat"
Robert A replied: "Most of the popcorn you buy at the movie theater is pre-popped and comes in large plastic bags. It's reheated and sprinkled with butter Flavored OIL rip you off for $5 and up. The short answer is YES you can bring it to a picnic."
TX2step replied: "It will be cold and soggy. Why not do pretzels and chips instead? Or a Chex Mix recipe......"
only1bub replied: "Of course you can do that! I do it lots - sometimes I even store it in the original bag not even opened (just making sure it doesn't burn in there for lack of having the heat escape), otherwise, I put it in a ziploc bag once it's cooled. I've never noticed anything different or weird tasting about it. If it was the next day - then it would taste a little stale (though I personally really like stale popcorn - movie popcorn the next day? Mmmm! So good. I know, that's a little odd).
The only thing noticeable about the microwave popcorn a little later is that it's not piping hot - but hey, it cools off eventually anyway. And if you add your own butter to it, don't do that right away as that will make the popcorn soggy. Pop away!"
Allota Fagina replied: "I would pop some non microwave popcorn and put it in a paper grocery bag to transport. Not trying to sidestep your question its just that I've popped popcorn and taken it to the movies this way."
Julia replied: "When our family makes popcorn and there is left-overs, we just put it in a container. It still tastes good, in a kind of different way, like it's not warm and fresh or anything. Just pack it and if you don't like it don't eat it."
elyag43 replied: "I put leftover popcorn in a plastic bag and suck the air out. It'll stay fresh for a few days that way."
Some frozen popcorn chicken bites were left out of the freezer for 2 hours (maybe longer) are they still okay? Some frozen popcorn chicken bites were left out of the freezer for 2 hours (maybe longer) are they still okay to be eaten? Should I worry?
sherrypie36 replied: "if they are thawed at all you will have to cook them 1st then freeze them but i don't think they will reheat very well"
unctarheel2008 replied: "Yes..as long if u put them back into the freezer..or if u ate them rite away."
Jacob P replied: "no, you should not worry, however, refreezing them will make frozen things taste even funnier. I'd go ahead and eat them while they're thawed; in fact, they might even taste better having thawed all the way."
Ginny replied: "If they were still icy, they're probably OK, but I'd cook them and use them right away. If in doubt, throw them out."
la_princess replied: "If the chicken is soggy than you could fry it or bake it but ya it should be okay, it's just like leaving something out there to defrost just so you can cook it easier"
Ahrr Y replied: "Just cook 'em and eat em. I would anyways..."
dmd replied: "They should be okay. They are precooked. Think about it, fast food spots leave Chicken out for at least two hours during down hours or at start of business day and when you go out to eat, take home left overs, it might take a while to get home if there are stops. That food is still good when you get home."
Popcorn Playa replied: "Food takes about four hours at room temperature for bacteria to start reaching dangerous levels. And even at four hours I still think it would be ok because the danger zone starts at about 40 degrees. It probably took about 30-50 minutes to reach that temp."
the psycho one replied: "i think they should be okay. as long as they are still in the package."
emperorpalpatine44 replied: "when you cook it in the oven at the cooking temp. it will be ok. The heat will kill any bact."
I burnt popcorn in my dorm room and now it reeks. How can I get rid of the smell? I brnt popcorn in my microwave. I have had the fan on and the windows open for over two hours. I also have sprayed a ton of air freshener. What can I do to get rid of the smell?
ebethw85 replied: "that happened to me a couple times. that's the only thing you can do. open the window and the door. try using those febreze or glade air fresheners that get rid of odor, not the ones that just spray the perfume."
texas18 replied: "put dryer sheets all over your room i swear it works"
preston j replied: "light a few matches the carbon in the matches will kill the smell"
Ryan c replied: "airfreshner or a candle works well. Or just cook something else and it will smell better. plus take out the bag of popcorn outside and throw it away. You can also clean out the microwave to."
eco-logic replied: "Open a window, turn on an exhaust fan and in 1-2 hours you you're good."
ibsawdust replied: "Light a match and blow out. Then put lemon juice from one lemon in a bowl of water and microwave for 2 minutes.then place bowl in room.Smell should be gone in few minutes."
dimpelmum replied: "well if you have a cooker pop a pot of water onto boil add vinegar to the water ,then turn down the gas and let the water simmer for as long as you can. Just remember to keep filling up the pot with water and adding vinegar , this will rid the smell"
Linda S replied: "burn a oder eatting candel you can find them at pet stores or vet office"
deedee replied: "Febreze, charcoal, or a bowl of vinegar. Try either one, their all great for removing odors."
what temperature does freeze drying take a few hours to "suck" all of the water out of something like popcorn this for a project in my chem class. it is supposed to be one of those real life problems and i need to figure out away to remove water from popcorn and i came up with freeze drying. so i need to remove the water from the popcorn in a matter of a few hours. if the freezer is cold enough then the water will sublimate out in a few a hours so i need to know how cold the freezer needs to be.

i need some additonal information. does the process of sublimation of water occur at a faster rate at the triple point of water, and what is the triple point of water?
raindovewmn41 replied: "this web site should have the answer but you will have to dig some good luck"
Norrie replied: "FREEZE DRYING
The usual way of drying (dehydrating) substances or objects, is to use a desiccant solid or liquid to adsorb or absorb water, or to drive out the moisture by addition of heat - i.e. by evaporation.
Some substances cannot be dried by heating as they may be sensitive to heat or they cannot be contacted with a desiccant in case of contamination.
In these cases, a system called 'Freeze Drying' is used to remove the moisture.
The process consists of freezing the material to be dried, to between – 20 °C and – 25 °C.
It is then placed inside a chamber where the temperature is allowed to rise slowly.
The slow temperature increase causes 'Sublimation' of the ice particles to take place.
This is a process wherein the solid ice changes to water vapour directly with no liquid phase.
Dry air or inert gas passed through the chamber, carries away the water vapour leaving a freeze-dried product."
ideamanbmg replied: "Ummm yeah. What Norrie said. And it depends on whether butter and salt was added. Freeze drying happens fast and utilizes something super cold, like liquid nitrogen or something. Dehydration happens slower and utilizes heat and time and leaves a minimal amount of liquids."
