About Wedding Cake Topper Ideas in Q&A
Cute wedding cake topper ideas? What is the strangest, coolest, most interesting wedding cake topper that you have seen? And Im not talking about the one where the groom is running away from the bride b/c those kind of bother me. I like the idea of monchichi bride and groom(toy from the 70s/80s) cake topper cause it is a inside joke between me and my fiance but im sure our guest will think we are weird... What are your opinions?

ruddy_scot replied: "My husband and I felt the same way about all those "traditional" cake toppers. We just used a unity pick (interlocked rings) and had a cascade of fresh flowers surround it and then go down the side of our cake. It was gorgeous. My husband wanted to have figurines of a wolf (his favorite animal) and an elephant (my favorite animal) but I thought that was a little over the top."

B2B 04/11/09 replied: "I saw the cutest one on a wedding website. I'm sure yoiu can google it. It's a bride and groom posing formaly and when you look at the back of it, the bride is pinching the grooms butt."

Amanda replied: "i saw troll dolls for a wedding cake topper, i'm using one that i found thats perfect for my fiance and me though its the bride dragging the groom away from dallas cowboys stuff and such as the helmet and a football while the groom is holding on to tickets and the bride has his jersey under her arm, my fiance is a major football fanatic and its his fav.team, torture for me everytime a game is on --Dallas-Cowboys-Football-Jersey-Themed.htm this site has tons of great ideas."

Mrs. H2Os to be! replied: "Our cake topper fits us to a T! We both like to hunt, so its a girl and a guy in camo and orange, both holding their rifles. It may not be traditional and look anything like a wedding cake topper, but its us! And that's all that matters! It doesn't really match our wedding but oh well. Some people really don't care for it,(i've asked a previous question about what my cake should look like).. but I could care less what they say! It isn't their wedding! I like to be original and have things resemble us, since it is our day! Here's what it looks like. ?$main-Large$"

Chrissy replied: "I like the ones were they do an exact replica of the couple. You send in a pic and they have diffrent types of themes basketball, fishing or wedding attire. Really cute but expensive."

yogiT replied: "really anything could be a topper for a cake. what is special to the 2 of you? inside jokes? pet neames? or cliches like : ball & chain, fred & wilma, beauty & beast......."

Any website ideas for a cake topper (wedding) for a couple who was in a long distance relationship? Me and my fiance are having a small civil ceremony in about 1.5 months (a big wedding in 2010), but we are in the final processes of our fiance visa.....I am trying to find a fun cake topper for our first wedding cake. I was thinking something along the lines of a topper with a couple and a world globe around them or a airplane? But I cant seem to find anything. I have found custom websites for cake toppers and they run a outrageous price ($350+ for custom heads/bodies). That certainly isn't happening. So I was wondering if any one had any ideas or knew of any websites in regards to cake toppers for a couple like us, long-distance relationship. (im in chicago, he is in the UK, so international long distance) Thanks

Crissy replied: "try marshalls, walmart, keepsake and just looking them up online."

mrsc replied: "wow thats a question i can honestly say ive NEVER seen on here :) ok well i would try advertising on craigs list and possibly combing through ebay? those are my only two suggestions besides working really hard and going to micheals and making it yourself! you know what you want better than anyone else does!"

K S replied: "I don't know about a globe, but there is a cake topper I've seen where the bride and groom are on cell phones. They're not connected at the bottom so they wouldn't have to be next to one another on the cake. Maybe a design showing the globe could be in the frosting? The link is just one website- this cake topper can be found at others."

Something Blue Book replied: "I've seen the bride and groom each on a cell phone. If it was a long distance relationship, I'm sure you talked to one another on the phone a lot. Hope this helps!"

dchalk1968 replied: "I don't know of anything with a globe or an airplane for a wedding cake topper, but there is a nice one that shows the bride and groom both talking on their cell phones at "

Ideas on where I can find a Interracial Wedding Cake Topper w/ Army Military SFC Groom? I need a interracial wedding cake topper. Caucasian bride with short hair. Black American groom, bald, SFC Army. Help me!!!

Kristy replied: "try lovethebride.com and mountainwedding.com they both have a large selection."

last_minute_shopper replied: "www.thatsmytopper.com/ you'll find it there good luck and congrats!"

sunshine_emmy replied: "Go to - They make amazing cake toppers and they're totally personalized."

PRETTYNENA replied: "http://www.helyn.com/images/wedding%20cake%20topper%20652.JPG Hope it helps! EDIT:"

Unique Wedding Topper Ideas? Me and my fiance are marrying in may. We want a wedding cake topper, but don't want it to be the traditonal Bride and Groom just standing there. We still want it to be like that(a bride and a groom), but doing something fun or some characters in a bridal gown and veil and a tux. We were thinking Precious Moments...but weren't too sure! Pictures too please if you can! Thanks in advance! Anna, I loved that idea! But I hate eBay! Do you think you could give me a link not on eBay? Kaitlin, your link isn't working.... Oh, thanks Kaitlin!

gavino_kitty replied: "we did precious moments. I think our cake topper was a cross."

*Anna* replied: "I bought this one because my fiance HAD to have it. He didn't like the ball & chain types, etc. because he thought it looked like he didn't want to marry me LOL! and this one made him look like a gentleman: "

Honeybee replied: "http://www.featsofclay.co.uk/#/weddingtoppers/4524182727"

Kaitlinツ replied: "Go to: They have some wonderful, unique, and even comical (most like Anna's eBay find) cake toppers."

Buzzy Bee replied: "My fiance and I are getting a topper custom made that looks like us! They get pictures of you and scuplt then to look like you, and you can choose any style you want. We are having the two of us in our wedding attire, and our cat at our feet (yes they do pets too!) As I'm from Australia, I'm assuming that you are in America......my link won't be useful for you, but we found a lot of American sites that do the same thing. Just Google 'custom wedding topper'"

Jessica replied: "I've heard of Precious Moments sinking into the cake because they are so heavy..................so you may want to rethink that. I LOVE precious moments too, but not enough to have my cake fall apart!"

L♥G replied: "http://www.weddingmountain.com/p-6394-a-funny-couple-caketopper.aspx not precious moments but similar: precious moments:"

Amy D replied: "try the knot"

Gothic Wedding Ideas? I am getting married and my theme is Gothic Cinderella (picture Cinderella as a Vampire). And my wedding colors are Black and Red. Can you share some unique ideas that would go well with this theme, like a wedding cake topper idea, flowers, vows, basically everything! I am in desperate need of some unique ideas for my wedding. Any help is greatly appreciated!

ourhouse_123 replied: "I think it would be cool to use the same kind of garb that was in the crow.. city of angels... the old and unexpected as in recycled things... the girls dresses shouldnt match.. but have some things in common...I would think the trend would be to not over do... lots fabrics...almost 80's madonna type"

Ophelia193 replied: "My wedding was similar. I got my dress from and it was a romantic gown in red with black chiffon. Any decent florist will be able to help you get red, black, and other dark colored flowers. Roses are always a good bet, as are mini cala lilies (they come in a beautiful deep purple). I suggest writting your own vows, but start by getting a couple of books at the library to help you start. If you want any more suggestions, you can e-mail me @ Good luck!"

eliza_ad replied: "Have you been to trystancraft.com/martha/weddings. They may have some ideas for ya. there is also a link to a gothic cake topper. I'm not sure exactly what you looking for. You could also try going with some medieval or victorian ideas, it would probably fit right in and make it more unique as well. Hope I helped some. Good luck. If I can help anymore"

bittersweetmarlene replied: "I would think that candles for lighting instead of lightbulbs and such would be really cool. Also, have lots of red and black rose petals on the ground...It would be awesome if your bouquet was with red and black roses (more red than black) and then your bridesmaids (if you're having them) could carry bouquets of the same only with more black than red. It may look unappealing, but if you had a white cake with maybe a cherry frosting and then have black icing with red flowers on it that would look really cool! Make sure you have black toule everywhere for your reception and lots and lots of candles. That's about all I can come up with. I've never heard of a Gothic wedding before, but it sounds REALLY cool!"

Do you really need a wedding cake topper? I'm having a fall themed cake, and I don't really like the idea of a wedding cake topper. Is it absolutely necessary to have one? Would it look stupid if I didn't? Thanks.

Natty replied: "Check this out They have sugar flowers (leaves too)"

Pwincess replied: "No you don't have to. it's your cake. Put on whatever you want. Or keep it plain. If you are paying for it, it should be however you want it. Not because someone says that's just the way it should be."

janicajayne replied: "Not if you don't want one. It's your wedding."

Flower Girl replied: "the cake decorators in our grocery store sometines use flower arrangements and they look great."

linav88 replied: "How plain do want your cake? You don't need to have figures, something else can work, like flowers or whatever."

gileswench replied: "No, it's not necessary. No, it won't look stupid if you don't have one. After all, you eat many cakes in life and very few of them have toppers. At least half the weddings I've been to, there was no topper on the cake. Just make sure the cake is pretty in its own right and don't worry about a topper. If you dislike them, then it's a silly thing to spend your money on."

Monica B replied: "I had a rose theme -and on the top of my cake was roses cascading down the layer of the cake. Maybe you should think of having fall leaves cascading down yours ( it's all icing so it's all eatable)"

ana replied: "No it would not look stupid and a lot of people don't use one!"

luvbugz87 replied: "It's not necessary at all. It's your wedding; you should do whatever you want to do. A cake topper is a little too old-fashioned (in my opinion). Plus, in this day and age, there is no norm. Do what you want. I know it will look beautiful!"

nml replied: "No you don't. My boyfriend and I were thinking as a joke to get one where the bride is dragging the groom and he is attatched to a big ball and chain."

bobbie v replied: "In this day and age anything goes. It's your choice. My daughter just got married in July and she used roses for a cake topper. Congrats on your up coming marriage."

jenny replied: "if you dont want a cake topper, then dont get one. simple as that"

blondee replied: "Of course you don't have to have a topper. My daughter had a fall themed wedding and her cake was a very simple three tiered cake with almond icing and each tier had a garland of fall leaves and red berries around it. It was simply lovely. You don't even have to do a traditional cake. How about cupcakes with fall leaves on top? They can be arranged in tiers like a cake. Look in Martha Stewart's wedding magazines or online for ideas. You might also look on the Wilton website. There are so many different ways to go! Good luck and have a wonderful wedding."

kateqd30 replied: "I didnt have one and through the years I've gotten the most compliments about our cake, everyone thought it was gorgeous. No need for a topper."

just me replied: "Not really, but alot of couples one to keep as a memento of theday. You can get a rather in-expensive one at Wal-Mart that looks very pretty.. No one will know you got it there... Congrats"

bluegirl6 replied: "course not! Have whatever you want. Flowers, sugar hearts, cugar crystals. Be original. Cake toppers are gay anyways"

anna s replied: "No it wouldn't look stupid. As a part time banquet waitress I've worked dozens of weddings. Some have elaborate cake tops (that have nearly collapsed the whole cake) & some have simple ones. If you are sure you don't want one but are uncomfortable about it, you might think about having a satin ribbon around the bottom of each layer of your cake. Or maybe get a couple of extra flowers & give them to the cake lady to put on the top?"

emmy replied: "I had a fall wedding and had this type of cake topper. Just a thought. "

Ann W replied: "I don't know anyone who had a wedding cake topper, at least not in the last 10 years."

PixdeeArtist replied: "I personally think most cake toppers are tacky. I am having just some scroll work on the top done so it is not completely blank. Even if it is blank, I do not think it will look bad. I think you should only have a cake topper if it is very minimalist."

Claret replied: "No, you don't need a cake topper. And it would not look stupid. If you feel like your cake may be missing something, you could always use flowers. I am having a fall wedding and I am using gerbera daisies in deep red, orange, and gold yellow to top the cake. I am also putting some sporadically around the cake and on the cake table. Here is a site with a picture of a gerbera daisy, for your reference. "

Luv2Answer replied: "I think they are kind of old fashioned. I have never been to a wedding where they had one. These days the cakes are more trendy and theme oriented and don't lend themselves to one."

Darlene mouse replied: "If you don't like them, you really don't need to have one on your wedding cake. You could have the cake decorator put some fall leaves or fall colored icing flowers decorating the top tier and cascading down the sides of the cakes. Or you could use real flowers or silk flowers. Fall colors are so beautiful, you'll have a lovely cake without the topper. My daughter had one on her cake and paid $75.00 for it. It's now sitting on a shelf. She had roses in her wedding colors between the 4 tiers and I think it would have looked just as nice with some of the flowers on top of the cake. Don't worry about it looking stupid. Whatever choice you make, it will be unique. Best wishes!!"

bountifiles replied: "Unnecessary if the cake itself is sporting a design or sculptural effect on top."

Peanut replied: "Why don't you use a small bunch of flowers on top to match your bridesmaid's bouquets? Then you could use the bouquets on the table as an added decoration."

JM replied: "We just had the bakery put a lot of buttercream roses on top and they cascaded down the side of the cake."

Barbara L replied: "No, you don't have to have one & certainly not the "bride & groom" - you can have flowers, or a monogram - leave it bare - it's up to you"

CBT Princess replied: "NO, you DO NOT have to have one! lot's of people just have monograms now, or leave them bare - Crystal's are popular now too - talk to your baker & look at caks in the bridal mags & on-line & get some ideas as to what you'd like"

LoveWithNoBoundaries replied: "No, you don't have to have a topper, it is totally up to your tastes. It is very common for cakes not to have the traditional "bride and groom topper," some choose other types of toppers, some top the cake with flowers or jewels, some have nothing on top. Check with your baker for options. Best wishes!"

wedding cake topper LOTR, help!? I am looking for a Lord of the Rings Aragorn and Arwen cake topper for my wedding cake, any ideas where i could find one?

barbaradjt replied: "Make your own... Find a LOTR figurine.... go to the cake decorating section of the craft store for a topper, and ideas to put it together. You can make a cute topper yourself. PS... It will be cuter, and at a fraction of the cost."

ayleyha replied: "u could have one custom made. from who ever is making ur wedding cake =)"

audioslave355 replied: "I am looking for the biggest friggin loser dork in the world... and I just found it. Get a life!"

ella s replied: "Try looking on ebay. They would probally be your best bet."

maigen_obx replied: "Try the link below, they'll work with you."

angel replied: "Yes, definitely make it yourself that way your sure to get exactly what you want! That's what I did for my horse themed topper cuz the other ones I found were so ugly and not original plus very expensive!!!! Definitely look on EBay. Get creative and maybe you could create some other similar and coordinating decorations for the rest of your cake too!!! Good Luck and have fun with this!"

ehc11 replied: "You don't have to use a proper cake topper. If you can find some suitable figurines (which aren't too heavy!) then you can use those."

Tracey E replied: "I am a LOTR fan myself. I found some dragon things to carry out a medievil theme, from Dancing Dragon catalog. It's cute if you cant find anything else. they have flutes, caketop and everything."

For my wedding cake topper- I want a army beret with a princess tiara or army black boots with cinderella sho? For the wedding cake topper I am looking for one of two things.. either the army beret with a tiara.. or I want some army black boots with cinderella slippers.. does anyone have any clue where I can find the army things? I am having trouble!! I do not like the faces on the people on other toppers.. or does anyone have a good idea with the cinderella and army theme? thank you!!

Pax replied: "You could always buy a Bride barbie doll and a GI Joe doll as your toppers, but I do like the idea of the hats or boots. Ask the bakery if they do artwork out of fondant to simulate those options!"

Lyndsey b2b 150510 replied: "i would check with your baker to see what they can do for you, there are a lot of people going with edible cake toppers these days. it is such a good idea. you design exactly what you want and they make it for you. good luck"

blondcutie_4_life replied: "you might be able to find an army type thing in an army surplus store... i like the beret and tiara idea..."

Where can I find a wedding cake topper with a family on it? My fiancee and I are getting married September 22, 2007. I am trying to find a wedding cake topper with a bride, groom, and a little girl on it. I haven't had any luck yet. His daughter from a previous marriage is going to be in the wedding, and we want her to feel like it's her day too. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I can find one online? any help would be appreciated!

Annastasia replied: "Try this link.............."

fruit_snacks replied: "telly tubbies.com"

dreamweaver67537 replied: "You can go to the link I am putting at the bottom. Send in a clear photograph of you and your family, let them know that you want it as a wedding cake topper, and I am sure they can make it for you! Good Luck! Dee"

Jennifer S replied: "Wilton.com, I used this for my wedding this past June. Or if you have a locale cake store try there."

azura181 replied: "perhaps try theknot.com they seem to have everything on this site or speak to your cake decorator maybe they can recommend a good source."

Gidget replied: "I would try a jewellery shop that carries the abstract art...of a family holding hands ect..don't know if you have ever seen them, they are usually white, and usually holding hands in a circle of some sort. I've seen mother and daughter ones ect, and I think some family ones. Gidget."

kath0469 replied: "Check weddingsculptures.com or Precious Moments might have a figurine that would work out. If you do a search for "custom wedding cake topper" you will find other companies that design custom figurines. Good luck."

greeneyed_clergy replied: "Try this. "

IAskUAnswer replied: "Use lego people :)"

splinter replied: "I'm not any help because I've never seen one--but what a great idea and what a great seller it would be. Any bridal companies listening?"

PD replied: "http://www.clayfigurines.com/wedding-cake-toppers.asp "

pink9364 replied: "wedding cake topper books.. Go on ebay too"

Etiquette Gal replied: "I think it is weird and awkward to want that as a cake topper. You are not marrying his daughter. You are marrying him. It's a completely different sentiment. She can still feel included in the day without being represented as part of the bridal couple. Maybe have a separate cake from the wedding cake and have it be a sheet cake where they put a photo on the icing (photo cake), and it can be a pic of all three of you. Call it a family cake, or have the photo cake be the groom's cake."

JAYNE C replied: "I totally agree with the answer above mine. You are not marrying his daughter you are marrying him. Yes you are becoming a new family and that is wonderful but your wedding cake is for you and your husband. She will be included in your wedding but I don't feel as if she needs to be included in your cake."

mamma bird replied: "in a certain way you are marrying his daughter. i have seen where the couple used the bride/groom bears then put some type of smaller bears,pink/blue what ever the case.with them. i liked the idea about the grooms cake also. good luck on your marriage"

Where can I find a wedding topper where the groom is helping the bride swing a baseball bat? I have been looking all over the internet for this great idea that I have for a wedding cake topper. I want a topper where the groom is behind the bride showing her how to swing the bat. This would be the perfect wedding topper! Please help! Thank you so much.

Cortney Elin replied: "It's looking like you'll need to contact a custom topper site or shop. We bought one for the last wedding I went to from that site. Great quality!"

Starlight replied: "I think that would be a cute cake topper! I didn't find one with him helping her swing but I did find one that has her ready to hit and him pitching to her and they call it the ready to hit a home run cake topper, I think it's pretty cute if you can't find the exact one your looking for this could be a back up option! Good Luck!!!"

Missie replied: "This is the best I can find... sorry. "

TotalRecipeHound replied: "The home run cake topper at the link below is the only nice baseball-themed cake topper I've come across."
